Maaya stars in Usagi Drop adaptation

Maaya will be starring in the anime adaptation of popular manga Usagi Drop (Rabbit Drop) which begins airing on July 7th. According to Wikipedia the story ‘depicts the struggles of the bachelor Daikichi to raise an orphan, Rin, who is the illegitimate daughter of his grandfather. Part one takes place when Rin is six years old, while part two begins ten years later.’

Maaya will be playing Seiko, Rin’s mother. Unfortunately, the character’s design hasn’t been put on the official anime homepage yet so you’ll have to wait.

Interestingly, this adaptation comes not so long after the adaptation of the manga into a live-action movie starring Kennichi Matsuyama. The trailer of which can be seen on the official movie homepage. I think I might prefer the look of the film, actually. It comes out in August.
